COMMUNION INSTRUCTION for second graders and older uninstructed children has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 17 at 10 AM.  Pastor Richard will lead the class which will explore the bible stories about communion and the communion practices of the church.  Sign up on the narthex table.


FAITH AND FAMILY NIGHT with Hershey Bears.....Sunday March 25 at 5 $20.50 for level 100 seats....a savings of $7.50. APPOINTMENT BOOKS/CALENDARS NEEDED If you find yourself with 2018 appointment books or calendars with writing space for each day that you don't need, please put them in the Date Crate in the Church lobby. They are very much needed by ex-offenders in our community for keeping track of appointments in the effort to get jobs, have counseling, and try to reestablish their lives. THANK YOU!

SUSQUEHANNA TOWNSHIP  Meals on Wheels is in need of driver volunteers to deliver meals to those in need. The drivers pick up the meals at the Township office and receive a delivery route which is approximately Front Street to Colonial Road and from Highway 81 to Linglestown Road. TREE 4 HOPE QUILTS FOR GUATEMALA. Have fun, learn and help put together quilts for Guatemala orphanages. There are now two groups that meet on the second floor of the office building. A COMMUNITY AID BOX has been placed in our parking lot.  It is available to receive your used clothing (shoes included). TLC will receive four cents per pound on all donations received as well as discount coupons for the organization’s thrift store on the West Shore.  We hope our members will consider dropping off their used clothing items in our box.

MANNA FOOD PANTRY supplies food, clothing and personal care items to anyone who is low income or in poverty in three areas of Harrisburg. They are in need of the following items: deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, tooth brushes, dental floss, mouthwash, razors, soap, body wash, diapers, toilet paper, kleenex, tampons, bandaids, neosporin. If you can donate any of these items, please put them in the Date Crate box which is in the Narthex under the bulletin board. Thank you for your generosity.


NEED HELP?  Are you, or someone close to you, struggling with addiction?  Alcoholism and/or addiction affect more than just the person involved.  It affects the whole family.  If you have questions and want to talk to a trusted church member, call either Carrie (717-329-3286) or Kay (717-226-2402). You will be given general information and answers on how to get help.  Your privacy will be protected.


Feeding the 5000 is a program that TLC started in July 2015 and is run through the Social Ministry Committee. Once a week, on Thursday morning at 5:30 AM, a group of volunteers prepares meals for about 100 people. They are delivered to one of the many homeless shelters or soup kitchens in the area. The program aims to feed 5000 hungry people a year. Our goal for 2018 is to feed 18,000. If you would care to help with some canned goods we can always use the following (we will accept any size):

These pups are currently staying at Canine Rescue of Central of Pennsylvania but would love to find a forever with a wonderful family. TRAVEL-SIZE TOILETRIES NEEDED. Tree of Life has recently started working with an organization that distributes hygiene kits which give dignity to the poor by allowing them to shower and brush their teeth, simple things that we take for granted; but health and beauty items are a luxury they cannot afford. Please help by donating and asking those that you know that travel to collect and donate the following travel-size items: shampoo, conditioner, body wash/soap, razors, lotion. tooth brushes, toothpaste, wash cloths, and feminine hygiene products are also needed. PET COLLECTION BOX… From February through the end of April we will donate to the Perry County Animal Rescue.  Their wish list will be posted by the first week in February. Thank you for all of your donations to the pet rescue and thank you in advance for the future donations. FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR OUR YOUNG ADULTS IN GLOBAL MISSION (YAGM) You can read in February’s Plantings about the 7 young adults that we are supporting in their work in Senegal and see their pictures on the Social Ministry bulletin board in the Church lobby. Their year of service began in August of 2017 and will end this July. We have not yet sent their financial support for this period, so during February there will be a sign-up sheet on the narthex table for you to offer contributions in $25 amounts. IS YOUR CHILD  in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade?  Have them attend Tree of Life Youth Ministry TWIGS meetings.  Just once a month, on a Sunday afternoon.  Your schedules are packed, we know that ... FAITH WITH FRIENDS, a Bible study/faith conversation for women, led by Pastor Cathy, meets every Thursday from 9:45 am until 11:15 am in the FH classroom, and discuss various books or themes of the Bible, as well as issues of life and faith. Faith with Friends is an informal time of study mixed with the sharing of stories, experiences, and of course, food! Children are always welcome and appreciated! THE MIDWEEK LENTEN SCHEDULE begins on Wednesday, February 21 and continues thru Wednesday, March 21.  Soup supper begins at 5 PM and continues to 6:45. THE WORSHIP LEADER PAGE on our web page has been suspended and we have returned to the old fashioned way of doing things – a sign up sheet on the narthex table.  When there are empty slots to be filled, Sue Cliber will recruit lectors and communion assistants, Pastor Richard will recruit ushers and greeters and Carol Wood will recruit altar care helpers.  Please do your best to sign up ahead of time and minimize our phone calls.

We need large coffee cans for altar flower delivery. They can be metal or plastic, but please, no small cans as the current design of flowers won’t fit.  Drop them off in the narthex or sacristy.


GIANT GIFT CARDS ARE BACK!
